Maradona as a Coach in World Cup 2010

Maradona, as a coach in World Cup 2010. Many people never
believed they would actually see that happen, but
Argentina's new coach is here to show everyone that he
still has the hand of God, and is able to straighten his
team during the World Cup, despite the negative forecasts
and the instability of some of his players.

Maradona is certainly the greatest legend of Argentina, who
has got into a mess in 2008 when he decided to accept the
challenge of dealing with the frustration and excitement of
the country fans. Argentina has been longing for a title in
the World Cup ever since Maradona led them to victory in
Mexico 1986.

Maradona as a coach managed to beat Germany in March at a
friendly match in Munich, but that was not enough to
disguise the fact that Argentina entering the World Cup
2010 rather aimlessly. The team can definitely count on its
status that derives from the two titles in previous World
Cups and its series of good soccer players. But the team
has not been playing well lately and Maradona as a coach in
the World Cup 2010 has even more to prove.

Argentina managed to qualify for the World Cup at the last
minute, which added to the fear and the anxiety
accompanying the team and its fate. The team has been moody
and erratic since then and never reached its peak
performance so far. Maradona is trying to bring the
identity of the team to surface all this time. But we
should not forget that Maradona himself has been quite
similar throughout his career and his life.

At the age of 49, Maradona probably faces his greatest
challenge as a coach in World Cup 2010. There has never
been so much at stake in the Cups that he played as a
player, and it is known that this type of tournaments has a
fifty-fifty chance of destroying the legend of the coach or
increasing his glory even further.

Maradona has said that he hopes that his men will decide to
play like their predecessors, with the philosophy of the
team led by other coaches in earlier years. But so far,
there has been no sign of either; the attitude and the
desire is still there but the team has not managed to click
so far. What is most important is that Argentina has some
great players indeed; Lionel Messi is already considered
the star of the World Cup 2010, because of his amazing
games the last few years with Barcelona.

Wearing the blue and white shirt himself Maradona managed
to perform many miracles, but now as a coach in World Cup
2010 he has to find the remedy for a team that doesn't lack
talent, but also doesn't have what it takes to go as high
as the Title. Or it seems like that so far.

Maradona as a coach in the World cup 2010 has a lot to
prove, and it seems that he is ready to do so. Among the
pending tasks, he will have to devise a way of supporting
his key players such as Lionel Messi with a structure that
will make the most out of them. He will also need to find a
few alternatives to the veteran players such as Veron, and
refine his choices from a rich roster that will manage to
perform as well as it gets.

What I Learned From The US World Cup Loss....

The ride was amazing, as the US mens team tied an England
team (in a come from behind fashion), tied a Slovenia team
after going down 2-0 and then in the 91st minute (yes
during stoppage time) scored the winning goal over Algeria.
They entered the round of 16 without a loss and were
poised to make another emotional victory after again coming
from behind on a penalty kick to 1-1 tie at the end of
regulation. Ghana, however, again struck first and took
the lead that would end the emotional ride of the US soccer
team with a 2-1 loss. The comeback kid just could come
back this time.

For you soccer fans, I apologize for the painful reminder,
but there are 3 important things we can all learn from the
US team. Whether you play soccer, run, swim, bike, play
tennis or even just walk for exercise, these lessons can
help you avoid the same let down that is still paining the
US team (and probably will be for 4 more years).

1. Proper Preparation -> The final minutes of a soccer game
can be won or lost by proper preparation. How is your
endurance? Have you prepared appropriately to have the
most successful participation in your activity (or sport)?
If you take the time necessary to prepare you can avoid
injury and perform at your highest level. This may include
proper equipment such as running shoes for running or the
soccer boot (cleat) for soccer and may include dynamic
stretching to avoid injury.

2. Learn From Your Mistakes -> A single mistake can win or
lose a game or cause a serious injury. The US team let
every team take a lead, but was able to make appropriate
adjustments to get back in the game. Most of us (and
ultimately te US team) can't keep making the same mistakes
and recover. What can you do to ensure you are running
correctly? Do you need orthotics or evaluation of how you
run or walk to minimize injuries from happening again. Are
you overtraining or undertraining? Are you eating
appropriately? We each can learn from our mistakes and get
better at our activity.

3. Prophylaxis -> Also called "preventive measures". If
the US hadn't allowed a goal in the first half and the
first period of extra time, they would have had a better
chance of winning. Likewise, we can take preventive
measures to avoid injury and not wait for injury (or loss)
to make the changes. Replace running shoes regularly to
avoid a stress fracture. Stretch appropriately and avoid
an Achilles tendon injury before it happens. Preventive
measures are a key measure in any sport or exercise
activity.

Although I am disappointed the US will not be playing any
additional games in the World Cup, I learned from them and
can better perform in any sport or activity I participate
in.

Who is Going to Win the World Cup 2010?

The World Cup 2010 in soccer has already started and the
soccer lovers have taken their places in front of the TV,
watching and supporting their favorite teams with
enthusiasm. The bolder ones have started betting on games
and predicting what country will lift the World Cup this
year. Who do you think will win the world cup 2010?
There are a few teams considered favorites for the final
and the cup since early 2010, once the qualifying rounds
ended. Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Germany and England are
the top 5 favorites, although it seems that there are a few
strong outsiders such as France, Italy and the Netherlands
ready to take advantage of shock losses of their opponents
and rivals.

Brazil is the all time favorite team; packed with numerous
talented players such as Kaka, Brazil seems ready to do
what it is expected. Reach the final and lift the cup.
After all, Brazilians live and breathe for soccer,
therefore they came to the World cup as the absolute
favorite. Players with tons of money in their pockets and
fame want to take their national team into new heights and
restore its position to the top of the world. Thumbs up for
Brazil, it might win the World Cup 2010.

Argentina is one of the best teams at the moment. Ready to
deal with huge opponents, in great emotional and physical
condition, Argentina has the most renowned coach: Maradona
participates in one more World Cup, as a coach this time,
bringing a new aura to the team. Argentina is blessed with
some of the best players in the world, such as Lionel Messi
and Veron, but no one is still convinced that it has what
it takes to outdo Brazil or Spain.

England is one of the teams that always have a great roster
and rarely does something really good in World Cups. The
team has to put lot of effort and apply the best possible
strategy, working with perfect planning in each and every
game if it wants to win the World Cup 2010. It doesn't
lack good and talented players, but it seems it lacks luck
and determination when it comes to beating its great
opponents.

Germany is always a serious team with great organizational
skills and determination. German players are not as
imaginative as Brazilians, not as excited as Argentineans,
but they are definitely the most serious and dedicated
players. Rarely will you see Germany being indifferent in a
game and this is what has taken this team to so many World
Cup finals so far. Will it make it and win the World Cup
2010 this year? Probably it will reach the semis, but we
will see how high it can go this time, since Brazil and
Spain are already preparing for the final.

Spain is one of the most promising teams to win the World
Cup 2010. It has a great roster, with amazing players such
as Xavi, Torres, Fabregas and Iniesta but it all depends on
if it will find the concentration it needs to deal with so
many good opponents.

World Cup Crazy? Check Out These 6 Soccer Charities!

Soccer, or Football as it is called everywhere else in the
world that is not the United States, is a global passion
unlike any other. You would never call it a past time, for
example, and often it is so enmeshed with the culture and
people of its respective country that it resembles more of
a religion than a sport.
While soccer doesn't mean quite the same thing to people in
the United States (yet) as it does in South American or
European countries, where it does begin to cross over for
many people is when they start having kids. It's then when
they come to realize the purity and excitement of the game,
no, especially, when watching their five year-old swarm up
the field after a black and white rolling honeycomb. It's
no mistake that this game, which requires nothing but a
ball and a patch of space, has stirred up so much passion
and intensity.
To celebrate The World Cup, and in the spirit of community
that soccer and sport have the capacity to create, we'd
like to bring to your attention six charities associated
with the great game of Football!

* 1GOAL
In 2000, 164 world governments came together to create the
Education for All goals and 189 governments also created
the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Two of the
eight goals involve ending poverty through education:
* to ensure that all boys and girls complete primary
schooling by 2015
* to ensure that girls have the opportunity for education
at all levels by 2015.
They promised to make sure there was enough money and that
the policies were in place to make it a reality. Since then
many countries have abolished school fees, spending was
increased by $4 billion and an extra 40 million children
are now going to school.

* Kicks For Cause
Marley Coffee founded the Kicks For Cause Foundation in
order to give back to those who make Marley Coffee possible
and to take responsibility for building healthy, happy
communities. At Kicks For Cause, it's believed sport
enriches children's lives. The Foundation aims to provide
soccer fields and soccer camps to children of the
coffee-producing communities around the worldbeginning in
Jamaica. In the summer of 2001, after the use of child
labor came to the world's attention, the coffee industry
leapt to evaluate its own vulnerability to this
controversial issue. Even so, the International Labor
Organization (ILO) estimates that there are 250 million
working children, 120 million of whom work full-time. In
these communities many children work for commercial farms
and plantations that produce commodities exclusively for
export, making up an estimated 7-12% of the work force on
these plantations. Among the products that children help to
harvest are: cocoa, coffee, coconuts, cotton, fruit,
vegetables, jasmine, palm oil, rubber, sisal, sugar cane,
tea, tobacco and vanilla. Marley Coffee believes that the
proper place for a child is in the schoolroom, not the
workplace.

* America SCORES
America SCORES empowers students in urban communities using
soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning.
With teamwork as the unifying value, they inspire youth to
lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become
agents of change in their communities. They develop
programs that use the world's most popular sport, soccer,
to energize and inspire public school students. All of
their programs require that children use the teamwork they
learn on the soccer field to support each other as poets
and authors in the classroom. The combination is unique and
it works. Every day, SCORES programs are creating a bond
between thousands of students and their classmates, their
teachers, their schools and their communities.

* Homeless World Cup
There are one billion homeless people living in our world
today. The Homeless World Cup exists to end this, so we all
have a home, a basic human need. The Homeless World Cup is
an annual, international football tournament, uniting teams
of people who are homeless and excluded to take a once in a
lifetime opportunity to represent their country and change
their lives forever. It has triggered and supports grass
roots football projects in over 70 nations working with
over 30,000 homeless and excluded people throughout the
year. The first tournament took place in Graz 2003 uniting
18 national teams. 56 nations were united for Melbourne
2008, which included the first Women's Cup. They are on the
road to Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup in September where 64
nations are expected to participate. The impact is
consistently significant year after year with 73% of
players changing their lives for the better by coming off
drugs and alcohol, moving into jobs, education, homes,
training, reuniting with families and even going on to
become players and coaches for pro or semi-pro football
teams. The Homeless World Cup supporters include UEFA,
Nike, UN, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Ambassador Eric
Cantona and international footballers Didier Drogba and Rio
Ferdinand.

* Kicks4Kenya
Kicks4Kenya is an organization established in 2007 with the
goal of getting soccer equipment to children in Kenya. By
providing them with proper balls and equipment to encourage
their play, these children can learn about teamwork and
motivation. The sport also provides them with a temporary
relief from their poverty-stricken world so that they may
return with a more optimistic mindset and new enthusiasm
for life. In the long run, these characteristics will help
them grow as individuals and give them the confidence to
overcome the obstacles they face and make great changes in
their lifestyles. Thus, while a soccer ball may not seem
like much of a gift, it is truly giving them the gift of
the world.

* MLS W.O.R.K.S.
Launched in April 2007, MLS W.O.R.K.S. is Major League
Soccer's community outreach initiative dedicated to
addressing important social issues affecting young people
and serves as a platform for both League and club
philanthropic programs. MLS W.O.R.K.S. seeks to establish
Major League Soccer as a leader for improving the lives of
people through sport. MLS W.O.R.K.S. supports both national
and international organizations dedicated to bettering the
world we live in, including the UNICEF, the UN Foundation's
Nothing But Nets campaign, St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital, Summer Bridge Activities, The Center for Summer
Learning at Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. Soccer
Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, March of Dimes,
America Scores, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Malaria No More,
the Anti-Defamation League, Grassroots Soccer, Hope &
Heroes, and many others. They are also privileged to work
with renowned doctors and experts in the creation of their
health and wellness initiatives.
