5 Favorites for the 2013 Masters

Rory McIlroy Autographed Photo
Each and every spring, the golfing world turns to Augusta, Georgia and the Masters. Held at the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club, the Masters is among golf’s greatest prizes and awards the winner with not only over $1 million in prize money but also a smashing green jacket reserved for the extraordinary gentlemen who have won the major golf tournament. This year will certainly be another awesome edition of the Masters tournament. Here are 5 of the favorites heading into the Masters:

1. Tiger Woods – After several years of struggles, Tiger Woods looks to have finally returned to the top of the golfing world, and is certainly considered the favorite to win the 2013 Masters. Having won the Masters 4 times, Woods is no stranger to success in Augusta, but he has not won since 2005. This year, Woods has won 3 of the 5 tournaments he has entered, and to earn a Masters victory would seal his comeback in golf. He may struggle like in recent years, but I could also envision Tiger Woods having this tournament all wrapped up by day 3.

2. Phil Mickelson – All prepped with a new driver made of “phrankenwood”, Mickelson is ready to put on his 4th career green jacket. Although he hasn’t been stellar this year, he did achieve a victory at the Phoenix Open and is 4th in the FedEx Cup standings. Mickelson last tasted victory in 2010 and has been the dominant left-handed player in the PGA Tour for years. Will his new club be able to help Mickelson dominate long drives on the pristine holes of Augusta? Probably, but whether or not he can keep his cool and make incredible shots and putts will determine if he can win another Masters.

3. Bubba Watson – The reigning champion stunned the golfing world with his victory last year at the Masters, highlighted by an incredible shot in the tournament’s sudden death that propelled him to win over Louis Oosthuizen. Although he typically doesn’t win many tournaments, he does occasionally compete near the top of the group, and has won this tournament before. In truth, the chances of Bubba Watson winning the Masters this year is probably about the same as any other competitor in the field, but due to his past success and status of reigning champion, must be considered.

4. Rory McIlroy – Probably still reeling from his horrendous collapse on day 4 of the 2011 Masters, McIlroy will likely never be at peace until he conquers this event. Since the debacle, golf’s youngest professional star has won two major tournaments, including the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. At just 23 years of age, he has emerged as the next great talent in golf and is among the top ranked players on the PGA Tour. However, his 2013 form has been questionable. He was also criticized for withdrawing from the Honda Classic this year after several rough holes. However, with a recent 2nd place finish at the Texas Open, McIlroy could be hitting his stride just in time for the big event.

5. Luke Donald – Ranked number 1 in the world as recent as last year, Donald has still yet to earn a victory at one of the majors. He did come close in the 2005 Masters, tying for 3rd place, and again in 2011 when he finished in 4th. But the grand fortune of earning a green jacket has yet to arrive for the talented Englishman. Naturally, criticism over his ability to win the “big one” has surrounded his career, but with his flirtations at winning a major tournament, one must sense a strong possibility that he will win a major at some point of his career. Is 2013 the year Luke Donald finally wins it? We will know by late Sunday.

Where Can I Find The Top 2010 Golf Drivers?

These days, the best golf drivers are often the adjustable
ones. This means that it is now possible to make in-game
adjustments so as to improve gaming performance, which was
not permitted by the USGA prior to 2009. Golfers can
customize and individualize their golf drivers within the
limits of the existing rules.

In addition, speaking of performance, golf drivers are
judged based on three criteria -distance, accuracy and
overall improvement in the game. Here then are the eight
best golf drivers for 2010.

The Adams Speedline Fast 10 golf driver provides for a
higher lift, a straighter flight and an improved airflow
because of a low center of gravity and reduced side spin.
With its excellent drive distance coupled and ball speed,
it definitely improves gaming performance for both amateurs
and professionals.

The Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Edge golf driver comes in
both the tour and standard versions with various head face
shapes. Amongst the many golf drivers in the Callaway line,
this driver offers the deepest center of gravity and the
maximum moment of inertia, which translates to a good shot
forgiveness.

Just like the Big Bertha, the Callaway FT-IZ driver comes
in tour and standard versions. In contrast, however, it has
a higher moment of inertia and lower center of gravity,
which makes for better control as well as improved
consistency, stability and power.

With its three versions of standard, draw and tour, the
Cleveland Launcher DST driver permits livelier shots
because of the well-balanced features. Golfers find the
advanced coefficient of restitution working to their
advantage.

Many things are going for The Cobra Zero Limits (ZL)
driver. It features a hosel that is adjustable, to change
the face angle and thus, improve on one's game. For one
thing, its rhombus face insert provides for a striking edge
that is powerful while the conventional rounded head makes
for excellent opportunities in shaping shots. For another
thing, its ball flight trajectory that is higher makes for
better control and, thus, better chances at placing the
ball near the hole.

For greater preciseness in stroke control, the Mizuno MP
630 Fast Track is the best option in golf drivers. Its
weight adjustments allow for 45 settings, which complements
the open clubface's ability to deliver low center of
gravity, low flight and low spin.

For a full complement of golf technology designed to
improve ball flight, the TaylorMade R9 driver is
unparalleled. It features three patented technologies for
this purpose - Flight Control for customizable head and
shaft system; Movable Weight for changing the center of
gravity and, thus, promote various ball flights; and
Inverted Cone expands the clubface area that delivers the
desired high ball speed.

Then there is the Titleist 909 golf driver with its three
models called the D2, D3 and D Comp. All of these drivers
are titanium-made, which delivers on superior distance,
solid feel in the hands and an enhanced sound.
The market for golf drivers may be flooded with newer
models but the abovementioned eight brand names are top of
the heap. You will find that your golf game will
significantly improve, maybe even sufficiently good to give
the pros a run for their money.

Golf: Shooting in the 70's

I remember when I first attempted to play a round of golf,
how frustrating it was and how much I disliked it. The only
reason for my ill feelings were because I was very bad at
it. I could not understand that, because I was very good in
all other sports, like football, basketball and baseball.
Why was I so bad at golf? So I decided to actually practice
this sport and before long, I was getting better. I learned
quickly that becoming frustrated when I hit a bad shot was
a very big nono. So I then read a book and put these
suggestions to practice.

7 Golf tips on how to improve your next round of golf!

1. PREPARE LIKE A PRO: Show up an hour before your tee time
so you can check your golf equipment. Are your golf clubs,
golf balls, golf shoes clean? STRETCH! Warm up, then check
your golf swing mechanics. Hit the putting green, then head
over to the driving range. Now you're ready to tee off!

2. STAY FOCUSED: All through out the day concentrate on
"the shot at hand". Pay no mind to past shots or future
shots, or you will end up some where you don't want to be.
If you do hit a bad shot, (we all do) let it go or it will
ruin your whole round. Remember golf is a very mental game.

3. MAKE YOUR FIRST TEE SHOT COUNT! This is the most
important golf shot of the day, and it will dictate how you
play your round. Think about it, if you smash it right down
the middle of the fairway your going to be enthused to
play. If not your mindset will be one of doubt. So relax,
have fun and believe!

4. READING THE GREENS: When your shooting the second shot
you may need to figure out how the golf ball is going to
roll. Squat down and take a look, this will give you an
alternate view so you can measure distance and gauge the
speed of the golf ball. If your foursome is hitting before
you, take notice of how they played their shots, and adjust
your play from their results.

5. DON'T HIT UP! Let it roll man let it roll! Almost all
golfers make the mistake of chipping the ball high in the
air, why? (I did this too) But really if you limit your
back swing and punch it, you will find it way easier to
gauge. Think about it; a rolling golf ball, or a bouncing
golf ball!

6. PUTTING ON A DIME: When you are practicing your putting.
Go ahead and place a dime anywhere on the putting green,
and drop seven or eight golf balls all around in different
spots. Then try to putt as close as you can to the dime
from the different spots. A smaller object (the dime), will
allow you to get a feel for the speed of the green. It also
will allow you to find the "middle" of the cup. Remember 3
and 4 putting will always kill a good drive all of the time.

7. PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE: If there is one sport that
you have to practice to get better at, it is GOLF! There
are so many ways to fail, if you are not tuned in. Clearing
your mind before heading out, and visualizing a great round
is a necessity for less stress and better golf. Putting,
chipping, golf swing, and balance all have to be considered.
Remember even Tiger Woods needs to practice, and even he
falls short sometimes.

As I stated in the beginning, I was terrible at golf. Then
I picked up a book and learned how not to be so terrible.

Golf - A Golf Swing Tip

Well golfers, summer is on its way, and most weekend "golf"
warriors are hitting the links. There are ways to enjoy
this wonderful game, which entail golf strategies for
recreation or progress. I myself have always struggled with
wanting to pound out a 400 yard drive, being that I'm a big
guy, but let's face it- Tiger Woods and the boys on the
tour even hook or slice at times.

It all starts with timing. Good timing brings accuracy from
the tee, and this is where one must begin to improve their
golf swing. Shorten your back swing by stopping your
shoulder turn when your arms start going back naturally. If
you don't you will get in trouble at the top if you keep
going. Stay parallel, and eliminate over turning by keeping
your hands away from your head, as far as possible. When
you keep your feet planted, you will also find that this
holds your lower half and stops you from swaying.

When striking the golf ball your arms and body must move as
one. Meaning the arms and chest have to move together while
in your down swing. Focus on this while remembering to
maintain the "triangle" formed by the chest and arms into
impact. It should be the only time in your golf swing when
your arms are perfectly straight and your swinging at top
speed. Also be mindful not to move your hips too quick.

To generate a powerful golf swing. You need to increase
club head speed and shift your weight properly. Your right
foot should rise slightly off the ground while the left
leg, should straighten in your down swing. The arms should
straighten also as you approach impact. Next, your belly
button should go past your shoulders as you start to rotate
your body. DO NOT engage your hands until right before
impact. Keep your head BEHIND the golf ball at impact.
These are some golf tips for you to implement in your golf
game if you are having problems with your golf swing.

To hit the golf ball with consistent accuracy always do
your best to control your breathing. I would suggest even
before you address the golf ball that you breath deeply. In
and out, at least three times. This will relax you to the
point of becoming centered and focused on exactly what you
need to do. Execute your golf swing!
----------------------------------------------------
A consistent golf swing is just a piece of the puzzle to
this great game. Practice and competent instruction will
always be invaluable. I've implemented tips and videos from
an expert on golf. He has helped countless weekend
warriors, amateurs, and even pros to improve. There's a
world of tips, plus bonus after bonus, and even a weekly
newsletter. I believe if you want to get better, this is a
must, go here http://shootinginthe70sgolf.com/
