Michael Vick Pleads Guilty !

It appears that Atlanta Falcons' QB Michael Vick has come to his senses.  As everyone knows, Vick is facing some serious Federal criminal charges for the dogfighting that was occurring on his property.  Several individuals were cooperating with the government and had taken plea deals.  We all know what that means.  They rolled over on Vick and gave him up.  At the beginning, Vick was not being very smart and denied being involved.  By doing this, he was looking at a trial and many many years in Federal prison.  But he came to his senses and decided to take a deal himself and cut the amount of time in prison to almost nothing.

No one is talking about what the plea agreement entails.  However, Vick may be looking at no more than a 1 year in prison.  This is where he came to his senses.  Do you take the chance and go to trial and spend the next several years in prison (which is where he deserves to be for the cruelty he placed upon these animals) or do you admit you were wrong and spend a year or less in prison.  He still isn't really admitting guilt though, as he is claiming the others influenced him.  Well, if you had higher morals, no one could have made the influence to torture and kill defenseless animals.

Even though Michael Vick may not spend much time in prison, he has basically lost his entire life.  Since the dogfighting also included gambling, this may keep Vick out of the NFL for life.  He will lose his career and the high bucks he was making.  He will also lose all of his endorsement deals as these high profile companies will not want anything to do with him.  Vick will also probably be facing state criminal charges which could also lead to jail time.

Because Vick will be losing everything, we all may end up supporting him when he goes on welfare.

Nike & Reebok Take Measures Into Their Own Hands

Michael Vick's world seems to be crashing down on him right now.  Not only is he not allowed to be with his teammates during training camp, and is facing federal charges for his alleged dog fighting activities, he is now on the verge of losing his lucrative deal with Nike.  He is also probably one of the first athletes to have his jersey pulled from shelves as Reebok (who happens to be the official uniform supplier of the NFL) is halting any sales of Vick's No.7 jersey.  Reebok is allowing stores to return Vick's jerseys for refunds.

Reebok does not have any endorsement deals with Vick at this time.
Several animal-rights groups have protested due to the animal cruelty activities that have occurred on Michael Vick's property.  Due to the pressures by these groups, Nike decided to suspend their endorsement deal with Vick without pay.  They have also halted sales of all Vick-related shoes and other products from their retail stores.  Nike has left the door open for Vick in case he is found not guilty of the charges.

All of this news came today.  Michael Vick had made his initial appearance in federal court yesterday and had pled not guilty to several federal charges.

These are great moves as it sends a message to other athletes who walk on the wild side and think they will not have any repercussions.

Is Michael Vick Done In The NFL?

Is Michael Vick done in Atlanta - or in the NFL for that matter?

The Atlanta Falcons will be starting their training camp today without their beloved quarterback.  Pro Bowl Quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled to appear in Federal Court today to answer up on dog fighting charges.  Vick can't be in two places at once, so he will not be at training camp.

Even if Vick wanted to attend training camp, he couldn't.  Vick has been banned from the facilities and from camp while the NFL conducts its own investigation into this matter.  Vick was originally looking at being suspended by the Atlanta Falcons for four games which is the maximum allowed.  The Falcons decided not to suspend Vick at the behest of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell who has the right to impose even stricter penalties.

Michael Vick is facing up to six years in Federal prison for several animal rights violations that had occurred on his property.  The 18-page Federal indictment details the hanging, drowning, shooting and electrocution of dogs on Vick's property.  Vick contends that he was not aware of what was occurring on his property.

The dogfighting events that have been described on Vick's property is absolutely horrific and despicable.

It is our prediction that Vick is done in the NFL.  Vick will be prosecuted, convicted and will probably serve time in the Federal prison system.  Vick broke NFL records by becoming the first quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards, but he will not be able to runaway from this and his athleticism will not assist him in anyway.

While Vick is preoccupied, former Detroit Lions Quarterback Joey Harrington will take over the controls of the Atlanta Falcons.
