Hideki Matsui Receives Standing Ovation And Fake Ring Upon His Return To The Bronx

World Series MVP Hideki Matsui returned to the Bronx to play his old team, the New York Yankees, yesterday. The Yankees celebrated their opening day with handing out the championship rings. Matsui is now the Los Angeles Angels designated hitter.

After all of the Yankees players received their rings, Matsui was introduced and the crowd gave their loudest cheer for their former MVP. The response to Matsui was even greater then the response Derek Jeter got even though this is Jeter's fifth ring. After Matsui was introduced, his former teammates mobbed him and congratulated him. Matsui was then given his ring which was actually a tin ring instead of the actual World Series Ring. The joke was pulled off by Jeter himself and Matsui took it well. He received the actual ring during a later player introduction.

Matsui would later go 0-5 during the game which the Yankees won.
